Convenience stores launch sales of rare items as Chuseok freebies

SEOUL, August 11 (Korea Bizwire)South Korean convenience store chains have launched gift box sales for the upcoming Chuseok holiday from September 9 to 12. Among these gift boxes, a variety of rare and extraordinary items arouse the interest of customers.

GS25 is rolling out gift sets of luxury liquors, including DRC Romanee-Conti 2017 worth around 79 million won (US$60,740), Dom Perignon Champagne and Vintage Wine.

Amid the recent surge in travel demand, the company plans to start selling a travel product titled “Stay in Jeju Island for a Month” in collaboration with Hanwha Resort.

E-Mart 24 launched the sale of electric vehicles, electric motorcycles and electric bicycles as Chuseok gifts.

The retailer has teamed up with local electric vehicle maker DPECO to launch two types of ultra-small electric trucks and electric vans that customers can purchase by pre-booking after checking catalogs at the company’s stores .

7-Eleven plans to show a variety of bags and wallets from luxury brands, including products from Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Prada, as well as extraordinary items such as pure gold golf balls.

The convenience store chain also plans to sell Nintendo Switch video game consoles and treadmills.

For customers with thinner wallets who are likely susceptible to price spikes brought on by high inflation, 7-Eleven also plans to launch highly profitable gift boxes.

During the Chuseok holiday, CU plans to sell mobile homes worth 10 to 20 million won of which it sold three units during the Lunar New Year holiday last year.

Additionally, the company will also showcase home electronics such as refrigerators and air coolers, as well as amazing plants and drones.
