SAN FRANCISCO DoorDash can prove to be a triple threat to convenience stores and other retailers with its new DoubleDash. The new feature allows customers to add their favorite items from nearby stores to an original order from certain stores and, in some cases, restaurants with no additional delivery charges or minimum orders. The two orders will arrive together and with the same Dasher, the company said of the service currently available with 7-Eleven, Wawa, QuickChek, Walgreens, The Ice Cream Shop and DashMart, as well as local restaurants in some markets.

Here’s how it works: Customers place their restaurant order on DoorDash and after payment find the DoubleDash option on the map to add items from nearby stores. From the store page, they can select drinks, snacks, and a variety of groceries. Buyers then add all the items to their cart and checkout with no additional shipping costs or minimum order size. A Dasher delivers both controls at the same time.

The San Francisco-based company, however, said DoubleDash is available “on select orders” and “shipments may arrive separately.”

“DoorDash’s vision has always been to bring the best of your neighborhood to your doorstep, from restaurants to amenities, groceries, retail, pet supplies and more. We’re now excited to take it a step further by letting you shop across multiple stores and categories, all in one order, ”said Prithvi Guru, DoorDash Product Manager.

DashMart is a DoorDash exclusive store that offers thousands of convenience and grocery items as well as products from local restaurants. In some markets, the company is piloting DoubleDash with local restaurants where customers will have the option to add complimentary items from nearby local restaurants to an initial meal order.

“We are thrilled to be a part of DoorDash’s new business, DoubleDash, and to have the opportunity to reach new customers and generate additional sales for our business. Senor G’s Fresh & Healthy Mexican Food has fresh and unique dishes on the menu and now we are delighted to delight customers more with our offerings, ”said Benjamin D. Arreola, owner of Senor G’s Fresh & Healthy Mexican Food in Playa Del Rey, California. .

“DoubleDash was designed to continue our mission of empowering local economies and creating innovative opportunities for our merchants to grow their businesses,” continued Guru. “With DoubleDash, merchants can reach new online customers who want to discover and try new offers that complement their meal. “
